Acupuncture was introduced in the Philippines during the 60's as an important treatment modality for community-based medical practice. As it originated from China, it was usually associated with communism. By the early 80's, acupuncture was accepted by the western medical doctors mainly for pain relief. But as more patients were treated with acupuncture, it has gained general acceptance as an alternative medicine.
Modern medical practitioners combine acupuncture with western medicine. Thus begun the "East Meets West" blending of medical practice in the Philippines during the 90's.
Physicare Medical Clinic combines Traditional Chinese Medicine (Acupuncture, Chinese Herbal Medicine and Natural Health supplements) with Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation (Heating Modalities, TENS, Ultrasound Therapy, Traction, Infrared, Paraffin Wax Bath, Massage and Exercises). Patients treated with Acupuncture have good results even with unclear western medical diagnosis.
