She finished her medical degree at the University of the Philippines, College of Medicine in 1986. She did her medical internship at the University of the Philippines - Philippine General Hospital Medical Center (UP-PGH) Medical Center in 1987. She enrolled in a correspondence course in Traditional Chinese Medicine and Acupuncture at Xiamen University Collegefor Overseas Chinese at Fujian, China. While doing her acupuncture course, she also trained in Community Based Medicine with the Community Medicine Foundation (COMMED). During her community based practice she had been doing acupuncture after her basic course in acupuncture with Acupunture Training and Research Center in Manila, Philippines. She did her practicum in Acupuncture with the Xiamen University Clinic and did her Advance Acupuncture course at Quanzhou Traditional Chinese Medicine Hospital at Fujian, China. She was under the personal tutelage of Dr. Zhang aka Tiu Eng Sou, chairman of the Acupuncture wherein she was taught Acupuncture and Chinese diagnostic methods. She was also treating patients at this hospital during the time of the late Dr. Lao, the immediate past chairman of Acupuncture Department and author of several textbooks on Acupuncture and on Traditional Chinese Medicine .
From 1989 to 1991, she practiced Acupuncture and Community Based Medicine in Leyte and Samar, Philippines.
She specialized in Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation at UP-PGH Medical Center from 1991 to 1993. During her residency training, she did a research paper entitled: "Acupuncture (effects) in Tension Myalgia". She learned that Acupuncture combined with Physical Therapy gives additional relief of muscle spasm and pain compared to than acupuncture or physical therapy alone.
Her practice in Acupuncture with Physical Therapy immediately followed her residency training. She has been practicing acupuncture for over 15 years and has treated over 10,000 patients.
She has dedicated this website to promote Acupuncture as a complementary medicine in the Philippines. |
